Our First Baby’s First Birthday!
I love an excuse for a good party and to get together with our people. As our son’s first birthday came closer and closer, we knew we wanted to plan something simple, but also fun! Colorful, but not too theme-y. Enter- our colorful, simple park birthday party for our guy!
We did it in the middle of the day to work around nap times, and had totally lucked out with the weather, especially since it was January!
Decorations:
I did a few DIY crafts like this fun birthday hat banner and painted sign. For the banner we just printed out close up, cropped pictures in black and white, and cut them out. Then we hot glue’d the birthday hats to the pictures and hot glue’d those to a piece of ribbon. This craft went quicker than I expected, which was great!
I also had some old fabric laying around from when I thought I was going to learn how to reupholster a chair we had (LOL). For this sign, I got some .99 paint at Hobby Lobby and took probably 20 minutes to make this little sign.
Rainbow balloons + flowers! The morning of the party I picked up some colored balloons at our grocery store and we got a few bunches of flowers from Trader Joe’s to make some small vases.
Food:
Since the party was in the middle of the day, we did some simple brunch-y food. Donuts, fruit, coffee, tea, etc. and some little bundt cakes for dessert + the Davis’s cake. These were the perfect size for him!
We invited our family and a few friends and headed to a park near our house for the party! It was super simple, the older kids had a playscape to hang at, and there was super minimal cleanup. Overall, would totally recommend!
We also tried to get polaroid pictures with everyone there which was so sweet and will be so fun to have years from now!
